Camps

As an air cadet at Tynemouth Squadron, you will get the opportunity to visit local RAF Stations and also stations around the UK and beyond!
You could find yourself working for a week on any station from Cornwall to Scotland, or indeed in Cyprus or Germany.
Whilst you are visiting the station, you work alongside regular RAF personnel, looking at what they do during the day. You could spend time visiting a fighter squadron, a search and rescue squadron, the fire section or the catering flight. On a typical day, you would have breakfast and spend the morning visiting sections and working with staff on the Base. If you're interested in joining the RAF as a career, this would be a great way to find out what they do. After lunch, you might spend the day on a local city tour or taking part in an adventure training activity.
We also run a similar programme during our weekend camps at RAF Boulmer. This trip also includes a visit to No 202 Sqn - search and rescue helicopters.

As Tynemouth Squadron is part of Durham / Northumberland Wing, the Squadron also takes part in a week-long camp at the Army Training Camp at Warcop. This is an adventurous training week where cadets take part in flying, shooting activities, sports, confidence courses and leadership training.

Cadets in North Region also have the chance to spend weekend camps at RAF Linton on Ouse where they stay at the Regional Activity Centre. There are a whole host of aerospace activities including flying, a chance to use the flight simulator and the training centre at RAF Linton on Ouse.
