Cadets at 346 (Tynemouth) Squadron have been praised by the High Sheriff of Tyne and Wear for the community work.
The team of 50 cadets at Tynemouth were awarded a certificate of thanks by the High Sheriff of Tyne and Wear last night for their services to the community over the past 12 months.
This has included fund raising for local and national charities, including £1000 raised recently for the Help for Heroes Charity.
The band of 346 Squadron have also been heavily involved in supporting the local community by playing at fetes and events such as the Newcastle Battle of Britain Parade.
The Community Foundation sponsored the awards event along with other charities such as the Sir James Knott Trust.
Squadron Commander, Flt Lt Phil Kent was delighted with the award and praised his cadets. "Our cadets put a lot back into the local community and here at Tynemouth Squadron, we feel that it's important that young people work and support other community groups as part of their development."
