Tynemouth air cadets do their bit for poppy appeal

Tynemouth air cadets do their bit for poppy appeal

This year's theme "Serving those who Serve" emphasises the need to help men and women who are serving today, as well as ex-Service men and women and their dependants.

The Tynemouth cadets have been out in force, selling poppies to shoppers in Tynemouth Station and North Shields Shopping Centre. For 15 year old cadet Robert Erskine, giving up his weekend to support the poppy appeal was the least he could do. "I feel like I'm making a worthwhile contribution" he told us. Robert, from Tynemouth, will also be taking part in the annual remembrance service at Hawkey's Lane in North Shields on Sunday.

SANY1216.JPGThousands of serving and ex-service personnel will join in acts of remembrance all over the Region with the band from Tynemouth Squadron leading parades in Whitley Bay and Wallsend.  Please support this year's appeal by making a donation and wearing your poppy with pride. Street collectors will be out in Tynemouth, North Shields and Wallsend.

SANY1215.JPGWatch out for Robert and his fellow air cadets who will be shaking their tins in Tynemouth on Saturday.
