Welcome to 346

Welcome to 346 (Tynemouth) Squadron. We are part of the air training corps – a national youth organization for young people aged 13-18 who have interest in aviation, adventure and fun. Tynemouth squadron is your local squadron; we are one of the biggest and most successful air cadet squadrons in the north-east. We have over 50 cadets who take part in a wide range of activities including flying, gliding, adventurous training, sports, abseiling and whole lot more!

We are affiliated to the royal air force, so our cadets get the chance to take the controls of gliders and powered aircraft along with visiting royal air forces bases all over the world. If you have an interest in aviation or joining the RAF, this is the place to be.

Please look around our website and give us some feedback on line. Alternatively, pop down to the squadron on any Tuesday or Friday night and see what we get up to.

346 Squadron and the wider Community

Tynemouth Air Cadets Supporting Our Community

Air Cadets from Tynemouth Squadron have started their poppy collection this week. If you’re out and about in Tynemouth and North Shields, you’ll see our cadets raising funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Supporting other charities and organisations is an important part of being an air cadet at Tynemouth Squadron. The Squadron regularly raises money for other charities such as the Royal Air Force Association, Cancer Research UK and the North East Air Ambulance. Over the past 12 months we have raised over £5000 for local and national charities, but our support doesn’t stop there. Our Squadron band has supported local events such as the Battle of Britain Celebrations in Newcastle, VE day celebrations in Northumberland and the Tyneside Festival of Remembrance. All of our cadets play an active part in their community and this was praised recently by our local Member of Parliament, Mr Alan Campbell who praised the work that the cadets from Tynemouth Squadron do for their community.

Joining 346 Squadron & Cadet Life

Tynemouth squadron is open to all young people aged 13-18. You don’t have to want to join the RAF, just have an interest in learning new skills and making new friends. We have a varied and exciting programme of opportunities for you to try from rocking climbing to parachuting.

The squadron meets every Tuesday and Friday night from 7:00pm to 9:30pm at our base on Military Road in North Shields. We have cadets who come from Tynemouth, Whitely Bay, Monkseaton, Holy Cross, North Shields, Killingworth and Wallsend. You can contact us on 0191 289 3707.
